The hunt is on in Jeff Davis Parish for 33-year-old Damien Guidry. Welsh Police say Guidry walked out of the department's offices when a police officer turned his back during processing. Police say they doubt Guidry is still in Welsh. The U.S. Marshals Service as well as state police are involved in the case.

Immediately after Guidry escaped, police alerted the public. Assistant Police Chief Robert Lane says Guidry was taken into custody after a traffic stop when police realized he had a federal warrant for his arrest. It's still unclear what that warrant is for.

Police are saying his escape is a simple mistake. Lane says security at the police department is minimal.
