Lafayette - Mary Odille Broussard, former director of nursing at University Medical Center and a University of Louisiana graduate, is honoring her coworkers and helping future nurses with a gift to the University.

"I wanted to honor these nurses who have been like family to me. UMC is a special place where the nurses are devoted to caring for a vulnerable patient population. It was a place that gave me a wonderful professional experience," said Broussard.

It still irks my butt how in the middle of the night the state gave UMC to LSU.

yes. the state was gonna cut UMC all together, so LGMC picked up the tab and will use it. Ive also heard that the residents/med students will also get to work at LGMC as well as UMC. Its gonna create a lot of jobs because the state was cutting budgets so fast.UMC was losing nurses and departments like crazy.
