All I heard was the first :15
Up to that point all they talked about was what made DWchange his mind and decide to take the job . . . and other light chit chat.
I also would like to know the Paul Harvey angle.
Lets see they talked about how David Walker grew into the job and came to like it so he changed his mind about making it permanent. He has signed a four year contract.
Discussed the new funding initiative and how it will help even though many of the things they are doing with the money will not be readily apparent to people. This includes the raises for the coaches, Robe's new deal, new associate AD (talked about him a bit) and summer scholarships.
Of course Jay had to bring up the mcnutt game. D. Walker was comming in poorly for the most part over the net feed (Jay's voice tended to be very loud and DW was almost a whisper so I had to keep the sound down at work) so I didn't hear the beginning but he basically told how it came about. He did say that mcneese has sold about 4000 of their 5000 tickets and will likely ask for more once their students return to school. He said he expects them to bring about 6000. He also mentioned how they wanted to rent Blackham and put a band there, etc. But he said that is our overflow parking area. He did mention that they will meet with the mcnutts in a day or so to discuss areas where they can tailgate. I wll try to get the inside scoop on that ASAP.
BUT the biggest thing discussed IMO was when Jay put the question to DW about an athletic fundraising organization. DW talked said they sat down with the UL foundation and discussed the pros and cons of both an independent athletic foundation outside the UL Foundation and a "foundation within the Foundation" arrangement. He indicated that the latter was the way they would go and that it would be in the relatively near future.
PS. In the 5 o'clock hour some clown called in asking Jay if UL was going to renew the mcnutt rivalry. Jay politely stated that in years where UL needed a 6th home opponent (as in was having trouble finding one) that mcneese would probably be one of the first teams they would consider. But Jay emphatically stated that this would not be an annual event and that UL would not be travelling to Lake Chuck...never...not going to happen...didn't even have to ask DW that question.
