    Default Payton Getting Notice

Elfrid Payton was included on a list of the top 10 mid-majr point guards for 2013-14, an honor that is absolutely deserved.

Hard worker and deserves all of the press. We are lucky to be able to watch him the next two years.

    Geaux Cajuns!

Just getting ready to post this. Really nice.

Here's another link. That one doesnt seem to work for me: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaab-...143136106.html

    Love this part:

Louisiana-Lafayette's Elfrid Payton wasn't on USA Basketball's radar as recently as a few weeks ago when Ragin Cajuns coach Bob Marlin dialed Billy Donovan and urged him to consider inviting the 6-foot-3 rising junior to tryouts.

"I told him, 'I don't sell my guys but Elfrid is really good and might be able to help,'" Marlin said. "I told him he could call Richard Pitino or Tom Izzo because Elfrid really played well against both their teams. He said, 'I don't need to call those guys. You and I have known each other a long time. If you say he's good enough, he's good enough.'"

this might seem like a stretch, but does anybody believe he could enter the draft after this year?
Any chance he can blossom into a first round pick if he decides to stay his senior year

I think he still knows he has a lot of work. As much as I like him he is not ready. You have to remember he only turned 19 in February. He will be 21 when he graduates and still needs to grow in to his body. He knows the value of an education and wants to be a coach when he graduates. I am sure if the NBA came calling after his senior he would jump at the chance.

Really happy for Elfrid. I think after his senior year, he has a chance to be a first round pick.

He is the lightest and the shortest to make the squad and if a false heart rumor could keep Dwayne Mitchell from being drafted, the NBA size nay sayers will keep E.F. in a Louisiana uniform for another year or two.
