A tad overly optimistic in my opinion but I applaud your new found enthusiasm.
When combined with your statement above you might be begging yourself to become disapointed. Not because it can't be done but because of what I call the Satisfaction Index
I hope you ar right, I will be.
In this POLL (as of now) "people" on average are predictiing a 7.23 win season.
If your prediction comes true, the satisfaction Rating for UL fans on average would be 1.38
If UL were to end up with 7 wins the Satisfaction Rating would be .968 . . . . hardly "time to rethink the direction the program is heading."

I don't know what pepper lover is smoking to go from worlds biggest UL pessimist to its biggest optimist but my SI will be 100 percent if we go 8-4
As usual your true colors come out once again!! That's par for you. Why you want to resort to name calling boy? Did I call you any names? There you go again twisting the truth around. What did my statement say? Did it say anything about firing the coach? NO IT DIDN'T!! Can't you think further than your nose?
Who is Dana and what's your infatuation with this person? Do you spend every day of your life policing message boards and radio stations? You just may need to seek some help for your sickness. Don't get mad son, just take it all in with a grain of salt. It'll be less painless than you think and it'll be over quickly. Believe me, it'll be over quickly...................
Now, go play!
I'd be 80% satisfied just to be bowl eligible again. I don't want a big jump up. I want small baby steps that shows consistent improvement and success. Too much success at once will be seen by others as a fluke. Not too mention that large jumps in success can lead to severe negativity if that jump is not equaled or surpassed during the next season. Success in small increments = stability. That's what keeps butts in the seats. You can get butts in the seats really quick with a dynamo season, but you can lose them just as easily as you gained them. A school that endures the hardships year after year getting slightly better with each passing season can securely tether a solid fan base that will stick with them in the next era of down years. Success is cyclical. What matters is: will your fans be willing to wait for another era of success? Stability will ensure that.
Another thing.........what's wrong with my being optimistic about this coming season? Should I have consulted the cult board to see what they want people to believe and or say or post? Maybe you're not really a "true" fan if you don't think 10-2 is possible. Hmmmmmmmmmm....... People have different opinions son. It's what makes the world go 'round. Wait, I see your point of view. You and that cult board are the ones that are always correct............it's just the rest of the world that's screwed up. Noooooooooowwwwwwwww I see. Like I said....par for the course for you boy!
Kal, if "too much success" was permanent, I'd have to completely disagree with you... and think I will anyway. I want to see improvement incrementally or completely. And I want it sustained, either way. I think for college football, you needn't plan on the "problem" of "too much success too soon". I also think that the Ragin Cajuns have endured enough hardships to last us at least 2 decades (in football).
There are plenty of us around that will remind people "hey, you just don't remember back to the times when we weren't going to a bowl game every year!". Now that I could live with.
My Si Is Based On 8 Wins
I'm ready. Let's rock this.
