Both are very classy!! I do love the old Cajun helmets from the 90's.
This is a classic one. I'll get the ball rolling with we need to stop playing r-e-s-p-e-c-t after a touchdown. Motown has nothing to do with Acadiana and it sounds like you are begging for something that we should earn by on the field performance. Those diehards that love it, I'm anxiously waiting for your rebuttal. = - )
I noticed the bp jerseys we wore for the BR regional were red with the script Cajuns. I thought they looked awesome because they just have that traditional feel.
It's very simple now.
Just replace that flaming vegetable, wherever it is, with that awesome FDL the football team sported last season.
The baseball unis we wore Sunday were awesome, except for one thing, that idiotic abomination on the sleeves.
It looked like a bird crapped on the Mona Lisa.
Just my opinion, which doesn't mean Sh$t in here but the Pepper really needs to go! I know it probably wasn't UL's idea but probably some damn Branding firm BS. ; ) Acadiana has a very unique Culture & your university needs to fully embrace that. Y'all need a West Virginia-esque, swamp man guy...kinda like our beloved Duck Dynasty front man, except Cajun. Also, I'm gonna get nailed for this but you need more than just a red fleur de Lis. Everyone thinks Saints first. Sure, have a small Fleur de lis on the uni's but Y'all need something totally unique cause the giant, Red Fleur de lis looks absurd. I really like that 90's football helmet though....very classy.
Back in the 80s (If my memory serves me) there was a "Mr. Cajun" mascot. Someone can probably find a picture of him, but he was kind if like the old miss mascot. I personally liked it, but some ethnic Cajuns were (apparently) offended by him so he was "killed off." He would have been much more likeable to the kids than the pepper. I think nowadays he might have been received differently because the Cajun culture is more celebrated than it was back then, but I am not an ethnic Cajun so I cannot speak for them.
