Times are a lot different now, coaches have to be a lot more careful of the kinda kids they bring in. You are forced to recruit "student athletes"... Oh I definitely get that. Isn't the reason Evans left was because we were about to fire him for screwing up our APR so bad? I'm pretty sure half the players on his teams were guys who were kicked out of big name schools.

Yeah and the APR guidelines have been raised even higher since then.

Some of Coach Evans best players were transfers but it is an exaggeration to say half were kicked out of the other schools they went to. Dwayne Mitchell transferred from Auburn simply to get closer to his New Orleans home. Brian Hamilton transferred here as the first place he was at was an independent. Tyrus Wade transferred here simply because he wanted to be at a higher profile school. He did not play for Coach Evans as Coach Lee was in his first year in 2005. Regardless none of those guys gave trouble while here Michael Southall is the problem guy most people associate with Coach Evans and he did have issues.

APR is in its 10th year right now but has always been on a four year average. So when Jessie Evans left there was only 1 year on the books and because no players were lost and Michael Southall was coming back, Jessie's final year 2004 did not hurt UL's APR.

It was between 05-06 under Robert Lee that players opted not to come back and between 06-07 when David Walker had Robert Lee clean house that APR took its biggest hits. That also set up the scenario where Gradnigo could hold the school hostage, because they couldn't afford to lose him.

Right now 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 are the academic years they are looking at..
