I was one of the guys that kind of wanted Austin to go in game one, but whether he pitched or not, lack of run support is what did us in. In hindsight, I would have been red in the face if he would have pitched yesterday. On that note, I do think you go with Boutte today, get your bats going, and have Austin keep (in all probability) Sam Houston's bats at bay while we face their number 3 guy tomorrow. After that, it's anyone's guess who would pitch if we make it to the if necessary game.

Let's just win today and everything else will work itself out.

No it's my fault. I was in the press box with Jay. Threw off his mojo. I accept full responsibility.

Our pitching didn't lose the game last night. Our offensive ineffectiveness was what bit us last night. We came into this regional knowing we needed to hit well... in every game... to have a chance. We didn't say "we got SHST"... like some of these knuckle headed LSU fans think. We had a strategy to give us a chance at winning the regional. And we needed our bats to come through. My only surprise (not really) is that we didn't move runners into scoring position, by a little more bunting. We just swung for the grand prize every at bat... and we missed.

On to the next game. I watched JSU against LSU, and their pitching is atrocious. We need to make sure and be patient at the plate. Make them throw strikes. They are capable of a lot of fielding blunders. We need to force them into fielding cleanly to beat us. And as for pitching... I'd still think "win regional" or just pack it in. I wouldn't throw Austin. If you can't beat JSU with the rest of the platoon, you don't need to be in Baton Rouge.

I hear ya... but Austin wouldn't add to the two lonely runs we managed. It isn't a given that Austin would have held them to one run or less. Our hitting did us in. I agree with your "today's strategy".

We are in tough shape with Harry, Adams and Butler hanging badly, regardless of pitching matchups.

I would start Boutte, but the first sign of trouble bring Robe in, we cant afford to lose both game and Robe not pitch...Must win today and think about the next game later...

I thought you liked that one! The Alex Box security wouldn't let me in wearing nothing but my thong (and red lipstick). They said my "extreme confidence" was very intimidating. That's pure BS. I know what actually happened. I had my Louisiana's Ragin Cajuns "Hot Wheels" tramp stamp cleaned up to remove the "s with the comma to the top". I wore my thong floss low on my man saddles in order to fully display my tramp stamp... and I think that's what intimidated them.
