I have spent the last 3 years dealing with college recruiting and I don't care what anyone says out of all the schools we dealt with (including the 2 listed above)small, medium and large, UL coaching staff is a class act and treated my son like a human being. I hope this year just takes off for UL as they deserve it!!!! _
Oh shux. The last person I want to offend on here is you. My point is that a "crappy city/campus" in reference to Lafayette and UL aggravates me. My bro-n-law grew up in Detroit and his family loves Michigan and/or Michigan State (big family, split down the middle). He is also still a Lions fan. He lives in Lafayette now (MBA from UL), and loves the Cajuns.

I was taking a funny jab at large northern universities and cities and their frozen tundra football. But, only in jest and only as an argument for Lafayette and UL being a nice place for any student to have a great college life.

I look forward to KP enjoying his college life and football, doing well in school, staying healthy and loving his mama. I also look forward to you getting the chills at Cajun Field, on a nice fall day with low humidity, fair skies and temperatures in the mid 60s.

You know, I always hear this, but I've never seen evidence. Got a link? To me, this is nothing more than a 20 year old folklore.

I agree, I think its kinda like those polls that only really rank the top 25-50, and just let the rest fall where they may. There isn't any research done for this sort of thing. I guess since it isn't a BCS school with 50,000 students, or isn't a large town, or isn't the most famous town, it doesn't get its due. The fact is that Lafayette is a great town and that's not just my hometown opinion. I live in Houston and always hear about how its a great town from other people, and was in New Braunfels this weekend, told someone I was from Lafayette...they replied, I've never been there but I've heard that its a great town." Oh Well. Maybe we should e-mail them and tell them they're wrong, and ask them to let us prove them wrong.

You didn't offend me in any way. Please don't worry about that.

Interesting you call it 20 year old folk lore.

According to this Link UL was ranked #1 Party School by none other than Playboy. If the reply is correct it would be pre 1987 (20 years)

While the quote is from a work of fiction, it seems the writer knows his stuff.

If I remember right, it was listed in the top five in the nation by Playboy in the 60's when I attended.

That makes sense, I found this quote from the 1987 L' Acadien Yearbook.

You are correct. In the fall of '65. I met a freshman from Utica, NY, who chose USL over Colorado, because of our ranking in Playboy. After 2 weeks though, he had enough of the Cajun way of life and headed West.

    He's probably still regretting it.
