I think ULA is the worst possible scenario. It would further perpetuate the Ooo- La- La BS. I am not sure why I hate the OOO-La-La so bad, I think it's the tone that LSU fans use when they call us by that.

It wouldn't be awful, at least it would be unique. There is no University of Los Angeles so I think we could get away with it.

It seems to me there are two schools of thought here:

1. Win and when we get big, we can dictate what we want.

2. Dictate what we want, then we'll win big.

Obviously, there are more intricacies to each than that one simplistic sentence, but I think that's the gist of it.
Most of the current students aren't aware of the "battle for a name". These kids were born in the early 90's and have no idea that we were ever USL or UL. Until we can legally change or reference to the school as UL the students will follow the admin. and who can blame them? Most, not all, don't understand the politics behind the name.

If we keep winning, and win big people will notice but does that mean it'll give us any more leverage in the Louisiana to change our name? Probably not. I don't know of another state to NOT have two major universities...that might be our only call to reason in the leg. body of Louisiana. ESPN and whatever conf. we're in will continue to go by what our admin sets out. We can argue all we want, but it has to legally and legitimately change at UL itself.

I call BS. I've seen ESPN refer to Louisiville as "U of L" and "LOU"

Also, for both South Carolina and Southern California, USC is used. So why not UL for both Louisville and Louisiana.
