International scout Epifanio “Epy” Guerrero, who signed Cesar Cedeno for the Astros out of the Dominican Republic in 1967, has died. He was 71. A native of the Dominican Republic, Guerrero began his scouting career with the Astros as a part-time scout. He followed his good friend Pat Gillick from Houston to New York and eventually Toronto. He is believed to have signed more amateur players who reached the majors than any other scout.
