Thread: Basketball schools student population

  1. UL Basketball Basketball schools student population

I thought we would be higher on the list but UL is only the 138th largest D1 basketball school http://www.midmajority.com/info.php?a=schools-students

I can believe it. In Louisiana, we are a pretty big school, relatively speaking. But, compared to schools nationally, we're kinda small.

Something doesn't seem quite right with this list. I thought I had seen a student count of just over 17,000 for UL recently. They also list UNO with over 17K. That can't be right in post-K New Orleans. There was such a drop in student enrollment that they were shutting down programs and laying off people a year ago. I find it hard to believe that a year later they have gotten back to pre-K levels. Also interesting, we are around the same level as Georgia Tech and near Arkansas. I further find it amusing to see so many "small" schools like Florida International, Cal State-Northridge and North Texas that have enrollments at the same level as some of the "big" schools like Louisiana State and Southern Cal. FIU is actually listed as the biggest of that group. Just interesting to look at.

UNO had about 11k in the spring following Katrina. I do not know what their number is this year, but it is far, far from the past number of about 17k FWIW.
