Ah, Lafayette! My adopted city: All it took was one brief visit in 1966 on the way to the Crawfish Festival to seduce me away from the city 50 miles east of us.
The people and the land, the music and the food, her hospitality and generosity captivated me then and do so even now. As a native Salvadorian, I have felt more welcomed here than everywhere else I have visited or lived briefly. So it is as a longtime, grateful resident that I offer these comments.
