2013 SUN BELT BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP SEED
    ING AND TIE-BREAKING PROCEDURES
The seeds for the Championship shall be determined based on each team's regular-season conference
finish. In the event of a tie for a particular seed, the seed will be determined as follows:

If one team has defeated the other team a greater
number of times, that team shall be awarded
    the higher seeded position.

If the tied teams tied split games, the higher position will be awarded to the
    team that has the best
won-loss record against the highest seeded team not involved in the tie.

If each team has the same record against the highest seeded team not involved in the tie, then
the won-loss records against the next highest seeded team not involved in the tie would be
considered and so on down the line until the tie is broken.

If the records are the same against all teams, then the seeded position would be determined by a
toss of the coin by the Sun
    Belt Conference Commissioner.
    THREE OR MORE TEAMS

In the event of a three-way tie, the won-loss record of the tied teams against each other is first
    considered.

If the teams are still tied, the team's records against the highest seeded team is considered. Then
the next highest seeded team and so forth until the tie is broken.

If there is still a tie, the seeded position of the teams will be determined by a draw conducted by
    the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner.

For multiple ties larger than a three-way tie,
the same procedure will be applied as used to break
    a three-way tie.

For all multiple ties, the tie is broken by first deciding the highest-seeded team involved in the tie
before deciding other seeding positions. Once
the highest seeded team is determined, the
remaining tied teams will revert back to
the beginning of the applicable tiebreaker.

According to warrennolan our RPI moved us up to #24. Maybe Brian can give us his ranking tonight or tomorrow?

Anyway I do think we are pretty safely in a regional and another win would be a lock. Today I think we are a 2 seed but I think if we go 0-2 in the SBC tournament we may fall to a #3 seed.

Dude, there is no doubt about it anymore. We are an ABSOLUTE LOCK.

As I said a couple of weeks ago the SBC remained the 5th rated conference.

The SBC has 4 teams in the top 35 of the RPI. FAU now making a push for post season at large bid. With a good run in the tournament they will be a bubble team.

I didn't realize they had already played this year. No wonder it wasn't making sense

Dude I said last weekend 4 wins was likely the magic number and we are now there. Read my post I said I think we are in. A "lock" no. Let's say Cajuns go 0-2, someone other than USA, Troy, UL, or FAU wins the tournament and let's say over FAU in the finals. FAU would likely pass us in RPI. I am not sure the SBC gets 5 teams in? If we go 0-2 and the right teams win and lose our RPI could easily drop outside of #30. I have been following this long enough to see the Cajuns get left out with an RPI around #30.

I guess what I'm saying is, there's no way we go 0-2 in the tourny.

    Knock on wood.

We have had a horrible history in the tournament and we have lost our last 7 tournament games. But I do think we fare better this year mainly due to we have the best line up in the tournament and we are at home. Plus I love the make up of this team!

It looks like the Cajuns will pass Mercer (.0001 behind entering today) and Florida (.0032 behind entering today) after today ... good for #24.

    Cajuns are in the field.

The conference should have used different language here. They should have used "highest place team", not "highest seeded team". "Seeded" implies the seed they use for the conference tournament. But if this were the case, then South Alabama would be the #1 seed as they would have a better record against the #3 seed (Louisiana) than Troy.

Of course, resolving this sort of tiebreaker using highest seeded team could be a problem in certain circumstances if this tiebreaker was needed for two distinct ties ... where the actual seeds were used to break each other's tiebreakers (chicken and egg problem). Hence, conference placement is used (and in our present case, UL and FAU both finished 3rd).

    Thanks Brian!

Brian, wasn't there a year the Cajuns were left home with an RPI around or in the 30's ?

    Brian
If I were South Al, it seems that verbiage could hold some water as an argument for #1 seed.
