The hitter-friendly California League isn’t associated with near-perfection by pitchers. But that’s what two Astros minor-league hurlers achieved Sunday. Lefthanders Kyle Hallock and Luis Cruz combined for a no-hitter during high A Lancaster’s 2-0 victory against Stockton. Hallock threw the initial five innings, striking out three and walking none. Cruz struck out four in four innings, walking one and earning the save. Hallock, 24, has spent most of his season at Class AAA Oklahoma City.
