JPB said yesterday that he knew the family and it was pronounced "W". Maybe a French historian (Boomer??) could elaborate, but I suppose his way back people were from Blieux, France........lending the surname de Blieux..... And/Or the Cajun word for eyes ...yeux....got contorted in the annunciation somehow, somewhere along the way. (Duh bl yeux). That is purely a W.A.G., but the etymology would be interesting if someone actually knows.

What is the side bar with Frith and Jay? I don't know where Frith came from, but he's been rotting on the bench for four years, nice to see him have a career day on Senior Day.

He's an Opelousas kid who started his career at Marshall. Came home because his mother was battling breast cancer. Couple years later, she's cancer free and he had a career day on Mother's Day. Very cool. My wife is a friend of his from high school. Glad he was able to find his way.

Well for those of us who stuck around for game 3 and saw the no quit in the Cajuns it was beautiful. Beer was cold and the weather was great. I went down on the field and talked to several of the players and the coaches, I thanked them for their no quit attitude. Last years team would have given up like some of the fans today.

This team has certainly overachieved considering the fact that the pitching staff is not very good (average at best). I think they make a regional, but unfortunately, the pitching is not strong enough to get through a regional format (hope they prove me wrong). If Tony can recruit some pitching, this team can be scary good next year.

Getting Griffit back next year is going to be massive for this program

This year was just a tough draw with pitching. We are basically down 2-4 solid arms depending on how you look at it that were lost due to draft or injury. I dont think we'll have that problem (maybe Baranik) this year and you add Griffitt back into the mix and Traffica is hopefully 100% as well and can give you decent innings.

He already has some good arms on paper (2 former SEC pitchers) and I'm sure at least a couple work out well. Basically everyone that will be on the team next year has already been signed, minus maybe a few late adds/walk ons.

Carson Baranik (Bossier City, LA/Miami-Dade College)- 6-foot-2, 190 pound righty who pitched his freshman season at LSU in 2012. He's made 13 appearances for Miami-Dade. Baranik leads the unit in strikeouts with 59. He sports a 6-2 record with a 2.83 ERA. He was one of the top pitchers in the state of Louisiana during his high school career. The Bossier City, La., native was an all-state, all-district and all-city selection and a participant in the Louisiana High School All-Star Game during his senior season at Parkway High School. Baranik posted a 4-1 record in 2011 with a 1.70 ERA in 37 innings with 57 strikeouts and four walks. He recorded a 5-2 mark in 2010 with a 1.11 ERA and 84 strikeouts in 50 innings.

Greg Milhorn (Texarkana, Ark./Northeast Texas CC) - 6-foot-2 165 pound pitcher at Northeast Texas Community College. The sophomore right-hander spent his freshman season in 2012 at the University of Arkansas before transferring to NETCC. As a freshman with the Razorbacks, Milhorn pitched in three games, including one start, and sported a 3.38 ERA. Milhorn was selected in the 30th round (917th overall) of the 2011 MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers following his senior year at Arkansas High School swhere he was a three-sport star earning Class 6A all-state accolades in football, baseball, and track

Reagan Bazar (Salado, Texas/Salado HS) - 6-foot-7, 210 pound right-handed pitcher currently prepping at Salado (TX) High. In 2012, he earned all-district honors as a junior finishing 4-1 on the mound with 31 strikeouts in 29 innings of work.

Riley Cooper (Texas City, Texas/Texas City HS) - 5-foot-9, 150 pound left-handed pitcher currently competing at Houston-area based Texas City High School. In 2012, he was named Galveston County Pitcher of The Year, Galveston Daily News' Pitcher of the Year, first team all-county and first team all-district after leading Texas City to a return trip to the state playoffs. Cooper finished his junior year with a 1.04 ERA, striking out 67 batters in 47 1/3 innings. He averaged 9.91 strike outs per game and opponents hit a paltry .186 against him.

Hayden Guidry (Orange, Texas/Bridge City HS) - 6-foot-2, 200 pound right-handed pitcher from Orange, Texas and is currently a member of the Bridge City High School baseball squad. In 2012 he went 9-1 on the mound, striking out 100 while posting a 0.49 ERA in 57 2/3 innings. Guidry was named first team All-District 31-3A, All-KOTG Team Pitcher, All-Orange County Pitcher, first team Beaumont Enterprise Super Gold and was featured on the Top Prospect list at the PerfectGame Sunshine South Showcase.
