Cross your fingers for rain-free tennis play

GULFPORT --Rain has been a continuous irritant at the 2007 Wimbledon Championships.
Local tennis tournament chairmen hope, and are crossing their fingers, that rain doesn't hamper what is shaping up to be a huge weekend for local tennis players.
Tennis action gets started today at 2 p.m. in the Bowman's Tennis Shop NTRP Smash on Courthouse Road in Gulfport. The annual three-day adult tournament, always centered around the Independence Day holiday, runs through Sunday.
Then the annual McDonalds Mississippi Junior Hardcourt Open State Championships begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at Bayou Bluff Tennis Club in Gulfport and runs through Monday, with Tuesday as an option if needed. This is one of the four major junior tournaments in Mississippi and will figure heavily in determining final state rankings.
it is Ryan Hess, not Ron Hess. The article is mistaken, I believe.Originally Posted by NewsCopy
Good luck to Ryan.
Ryan lost in the semifinal of the NTRP Smash. He was forced to retire with an injury. Hopefully it is not serious and he will be able to be ready for next season.Originally Posted by NewsCopy
Good luck Ryan.
Is this one of RedBug Steve Hess's son, nephew, grandson, etc? Has to be kin somehow, STEVE?
