Really proud of these ladies....some awful bad luck.....but it taint over....I need something impressive In the Tigue...in deRidder and ____ed....
Lol I'll be handing out razor blades tonight at the baseball game. Jesus guys get off the suicide wagon, seasons not over yet...
You look at the situation. As I stated, bases loaded and one out, do you need two slap hitters coming up. In my opinion, no. Pinch hit Maly with Vincent. Sure Maly could have got a ball to bounce over the third bases head. Then we wouldn't be talking about this. So much more could have happen with Vincent up. Long fly ball, hit, hard grounder to second base. With Maly a hop over third base head. And I wasn't going back an look at the situations. I was calling for a pinch hitter to come up at the time.
Understand, but Maly makes contact with the ball a larger percentage of the time. In fact, Vincent has struck out over 30% of the time she has went to bat this season. So, if you pinch hit you aren't playing the percentages. Maly is a slap hitter with speed and if she puts the ball in play she has a chance to reach base with her speed. Coach Lotief played the perentages in book with contact and speed. I think he played it right look especially after Vincent did very little when she had a few at bats in the tournament.
Vincent seemed overmatched.
Overall, a lot of the pitching we faced seemed to overpower many of our hitters this tourney. To get shut out in one game...and to leave WAAAY too many on base in critical situations. No good.
In past years, it was obvious that we simply had superior talent. This year, the gap was closed considerably with a couple of SBC schools. We need to make sure our talent level is sufficient to regain our rightful position.
Any regional the girls go to they will have the advantage at the coaching position.
Funny reading this thread now. After regionals the Cajuns are the only SBC team remaining. Congrats to WKU and South Al for winning the regular season and conference tourney, but looking at the big picture, those things don't compare to winning a regional.
Things lined up very well for the Cajuns ... if we had won the tournament we probably wind up being a #16 seed and paired up with #1 Oklahoma (who looks to be the big favorite).
So by not winning the SB Conference Tourney, the Cajuns wind up in the #9 seed regional paired up with #8 ... things do look to be lining up well ... oh, and Jordan Wallace pitching the best of the year now doesn't hurt ... and the Cajun bats exploding this weekend will put an exclamation point on the Supers!
GEAUX CAJUNS!
