Obviously, the two coaches sought out advice from a meteorologist. As best they could tell at that time, it was goi g to be raining...and I would suspect neither coach wanted to waste an outing by their ace.

Were anticipating a second band. They were as much concerned about lightning strikes as rain. Each time a strike is picked up, that's a 30 minute delay...minimum. Had they had one or two of those, that would have REALLY screwed up pitching. Since SoAl's bullpen is their strength, I would bet Tony could not risk starting a game...then having multiple delays.
