There was a time, not so long ago, that a 22-game winning streak - including 18 in Sun Belt play - would have earned the UL Ragin' Cajuns softball program an easy trek to the No. 1 seed in the Sun Belt Conference Softball Tournament.

The ladies are about to send the following message: "We still own the SBC. You can have it when we leave, but not before."
That is a pretty bold statement. The softball team will be hard pressed to win the tournament. No doubt USA won it last year and they are better this year, and I doubt anyone can say with a straight face that we are even close to as good as last year.
In addition we are in the three spot have to beat both WKU and USA. That is a big, big for a team with one quality pitcher.
I am hoping Hamilton returns to her 2011 form, and the young Brown somehow develops mental toughness this week, we need both to perform well, in addition to Wallace having her norman great outings.
I think it's pretty safe to say with a straight face that this team is 100% different with Nerissa Meyers in the lineup. Egghhemm, 21-game win streak.
I agree with Coach. It will be a hard fought tournament. I do hope we come out on top. I think the team feels it has something to prove since they lost to the #1 and #2 seeds. They are much different from the time those games were played. And, Nerissa is back and will WILL them to wins. She is like that, CLUTCH! Watch! Those teams know it won't be easy.
And we don't want it easy. We want a strong conference and be able to make a good showing in the ncaa as well!
I know this has been discussed before but how is it decided on where the tourney will be held each year?
Is it the winner of the tourney from the previous year or does is just alternate?
It's been rotating, we host next year.
There is no doubt that this team can hit with any of these other teams, but we will only go as far as our pitching can carry us. Over the win streak, our dynamic offense and Jordan's shut down pitching has allowed Mike to sub in pitchers to give Wallace time to rest. Now if we end up in a a few tight games and we need to start one of our other pitchers, things may get interesting. In any event, this will be an excellent opportunity for either Hamilton, Brown , or Martinez to really step up if needed and get some tournament experience (more for Hamilton) before regionals.
The SBC doesn't get to #5 RPI without having a few dangerous teams.
