I'd say more like 3 or 4 times the Cajun fans than UH fans were there last night. Several of our Cajun fans can be entertaining after a few brews.
We just couldn't get the bat on the ball. Their freshman pitcher, Jake Lemoine (a Bridge City, Tx graduate who played HS ball with Matty), started out throwing upper 80's to low 90's. Besides issuing quite a few walks, their young pitcher did a good job of keeping our hitters off balance. Too many third strikes with the bat on our shoulders. I'd expect more from the #1 team in slugging percentage, but that is easy for me to say while I'm sitting in the stands.
It was my first time to sit so close to our team, right behind the on deck circle. I could see the fire and passion in many of our players as the came on and off the field. That is always encouraging. Bottom line ... our 4 hits to their 12, plus our 2 errors is not going to put UL in the win column.
On a good note, their scoreboard was awesome! Can't wait until UL has their new board up and running with all the bulbs burning and pitch speed working.
