BATON ROUGE – The 2008 indoor track and field season begins for nearly every college in Louisiana including UL.
The first track meet of the season begins thismorning at the Purple Tiger Invitational hosted by LSU at the Carl Maddox Field House.
Field events begin at 10 a.m. with running starting an hour later.
Among the teams participating are LSU, Louisiana, Grambling, Louisiana Tech, McNeese State, Nicholls State, Northwestern, Southeastern LA, Tulane, ULM, Jackson State and Southern Mississippi.

LAKE CHARLES, La.-Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns track and field teams competed in the McNeese State Cowboy Invitational on Friday.
In women's action, Kioloni Readeaux placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 11.07 meters. She also placed sixth in the long jump recording a distance of 4.95 meters. Desi Chatman finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 10.86 meters.
Casey Brown earned a fourth place finish in the 3,000-meter run with her time of 10:59.84. Suzanne Boudreaux placed seventh in the event.
Paula Parker finished fourth in the 800-meter run after recording a time of 2:28.04.
Lauren Christophe finished sixth in the 400-meter meter dash with her time of 62.97. Christophe also placed eighth in the 55-meter hurdles.
For the Cajuns men, the distance medley team tied with Houston Baptist for second place after recording a time of 11:20.52.
Reese Lee also helped out the Cajuns with his sixth place finish in the 800-meter run. Lee recorded a time of 2:04.00.
Jordan Folse placed sixth in the shot put with a mark of 13.42 meters, followed by Ben Leonards who finished seventh after recording a distance of 13.14 meters.
The Cajuns will next compete in the LSU Bayou Bengal on Friday, Feb. 1.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.- Louisiana's Ragin Cajuns men's and women's track and field teams competed in Day 2 of the Razorback Invitational on Saturday.
Jasmine Collins had the best finish of the day for the UL women. Collins finished 12th in the 800-meter run with her time of 2:20.99. Lina Futi wasn�t far behind with her 14th place finish. Futi recorded a time of 2:22.80.
Jazmin Greer finished 21st in the women�s 400-meter dash, recording a time of 57.44 seconds. Connie Robinson placed 33rd in the event, while Jamie Blue placed 35th. There were 44 participants in the event.
The women�s 4X400 meter relay team finished 10th with a time of 3:53.22.
For the Cajuns men, Colby Comeaux had the best finish of the afternoon with his 14th place finish in the 60-meter hurdles prelim. He recorded a time of 8.45 seconds. Comeaux also placed seventh in the 60-meter hurdles consolation.
Stacey Fuller had a 22nd place finish in the 400-meter dash. Fuller edged out Baylor�s J.T. Scheuerman after he posted a time of 48.74 seconds. Fifty-nine runners competed in the event.
Roderick Houston placed 33rd out of 45 competitors in the 60-meter dash prelims. Houston recorded a time of 7.16 seconds.
The Cajuns will next be in action on Friday, Feb. 1 when they compete in the LSU Bayou Bengal.

Anybody know if Chris Roy, the freshman pole vaulter from Bridge Bridge competed? He jumped better than this meet's winning jump when he was in high school. He should be a 17 footer this year.

This Weekend
Louisiana's Ragin Cajuns men's and women's track and field teams will travel to Baton Rouge on Friday, Feb. 1 to compete in the LSU Bayou Bengal.
The team will send 34 athletes to the meet. The men's lineup consists of three seniors, three juniors, four sophomores and eight freshmen. The women's lineup consists of five seniors, two juniors, five sophomores and four freshman.
