_ Not only does the team need a coach to clean house and rid the program of those ____ing away talent and wasting scholarships, but you obviously need a few English classes. Hardly anyone has perfect grammar, especially on a message board, but come on. _

_ Dude go to an LSU parctice and see how long they would last. Their practices are like boot camp much like Silvey's were. If you were not good enough then you did not get coached period and they let you know about it also. There are three levels of athletes at LSU, elite, conference, and everyone else. If you are not at least in the upper echelon oof conference they do not give a crap about you. How many athletes on our team this year would even get coaching at LSU? I can tell you, 1 Chris Roy thats it. _

look my friend or Chris Roy, the number one guy..yea u is, man...look i dont care about LSU. im just using LSU as a example to our team. i believe we can be much better than them. im very loyal to UL. i dont worry about how other college track teams treat their athletes. we are UL and we are unique. some are mean and force athletes to win by being harsh on them. some are fun, allowing athletes to have fun and show their unique ablities. what i feel is that we should be different rather than LSU with positive coaching style and methods ya kno what i mean. we should be a fun, fast team. so that way we will have positive energy by knowing that we are the fun and fast team.

_ I do not see much hidden talent on UL's track team. We have finished last or second to last the past four years if I am not mistaken. There are a few talented athletes but Silvey did not overlook talent that was already there because there is not any collegiate athletes on that track. No disrespect to those athletes who do run for us but they are not good enough to cut it in the Sunbelt. _

The coach from the other team can contact anyone until that player is signed. We have guys here that were committed else where before they came here...its not wrong, its a common practice. You try to convince kids to change their minds _

If a player has signed a NLI then they CAN'T speak to any other school unless the head coach signs a release through the NCAA to let the player do that. There are extremely strict rules governing this process. If there were not, colleges would be stealing each others players. I would suggest speaking to David Walker and the NCAA for any player who has questions. Getting the correct information is crucial and obtaining it from the correct source is the right thing to do.

MONROE, La. - Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns track and field teams competed at the ULM Warhawk Classic on Saturday. Three Cajuns hurdlers captured first place finishes during the meet. Freshman Taryn Simmons placed first for the Lady Cajuns in the women’s 400-meter hurdles, freshman Louis Stevens placed first in the men’s 110-meter hurdles and sophomore Stacey Fuller placed first in the men’s 400-meter hurdles. Simmons placed first in the 400-meter hurdles after posting a time of 1:02.44. Lina Futi placed third in the event with a time of 1:07.31 and Danielle Favinger followed with a fourth-place finish. Amy Doucet captured a second place finish in the javelin throw with a mark of 124 feet, 3 inches. Constance Robinson placed third in the 400-meter dash with her time of 59.65 seconds. Robinson also finished fifth in the 200-meter dash after she recorded a time of 25.98 seconds. Casey Brown placed fifth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:02.70. Kioloni Readeaux posted a mark of 18 feet, 7 1/4 inches to place fourth in the long jump. In men’s action, Stevens captured a first-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles after posting a time of 14.97 seconds. Fuller placed first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.16 seconds. Brent Adams picked up a first-place finish in the high jump with his mark of 6 feet, 4 3/4 inches. Roderick Houston placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.43 seconds. Houston also placed ninth in the 100-meter dash with his time of 10.86 seconds. Casey Comeaux placed fourth in the javelin with his throw of 188 feet, 5 inches. Ben Leonards placed third in the shot put with his throw of 46 feet, 6 inches. Matt Desormeaux placed seventh and Jordan Folse placed eighth. Folse also placed seventh in the discus with his throw of 151 feet, 3 inches. Leonards placed seventh in the hammer throw with a mark of 137 feet, 2 inches. Reese Lee finished sixth in the 800-meter run with his time of 1:59.23. Joey Wynn placed 10th in the 400-meter dash after posting a time of 50.93 seconds. UL - Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns and LAdy Cajuns track and field teams hosted the Cole/Lancon Twilight Classic on Wednesday. Freshmen Chris Roy and Taryn Simmons qualified for the NCAA Regional. Roy placed second and qualified for the NCAA Regional in the men’s pole vault after he posted a mark of 17 feet, 3/4 inch. Freshman Taryn Simmons placed first in the 400-meter hurdles and set the school record with her time of 1:00.64. The record was previously held by D’Nais Jones who set it on May 12, 1996. Roy and Simmons are the first Cajuns to qualify for the NCAA meet. For the Lady Cajuns, sophomore Jazmin Greer placed first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.18 seconds. Senior Casey Brown also picked up first-place finish for the Cajuns. Brown led the way in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with her time of 7:36.90. The UL 4X400-meter relay team took top honors after posting a time of 3:52.92.Senior Desi Chatman finished first in the hammer throw with a mark of 136 feet, 7 inches, and senior Amy Doucet placed first in the javelin. In men’s action, freshman Reese Lee helped the Cajuns’ cause with his first-place finish in the 1,500-meter run. Lee recorded a time of 4:09.41 seconds. Junior Joby Gisclair finished first in the 3,000-meter run with his time of 9:22.40. Freshman Louis Stevens placed first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.09 seconds. The 4X400-meter and 4X100-meter relay teams both placed first at the meet. Freshman Brent Adams placed first in the high jump with his mark of 6 feet, 4 inches. Senior Ben Leonards finished in the shot put with his mark of 46 feet, 11 1/2 inches, and sophomore Jordan Folse placed first in the discus with a throw of 156 feet. After Day 2 action, the men are in ninth place, while the women are in 11th place. The UL men have scored seven points in the meet, and the women have scored five. In men’s action, Jordan Folse earned three points in the discus throw with his mark of 148 feet, 9 inches. Hebert earned two points for the Cajuns after he placed seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:05.82. Ben Leonards captured a seventh-place finish and two points in the shot put with his mark of 47 feet, 5 1/4 inches. Roderick Houston qualified for the championship finals in the 100-meter dash after he posted a time of 10.48 seconds. Houston also qualified in the 200-meter dash with his time of 21.48 seconds. Louis Stevens advanced to the finals in the 110-meter hurdles with his time of 14.66 seconds. Stacey Fuller advanced in the 400-meter hurdles after recording a time of 53.86 seconds. In women’s action, Casey Brown earned the five points for the Cajuns after she placed fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Brown recorded a time of 11:39.93. Paula Parker qualified for the finals in the 800-meter run after she recorded a prelim-time of 2:20.31. Quantisha Rambo and Jasmine Anderson both qualified in the 100-meter hurdles. Rambo recorded a time of 14.49 seconds and Anderson recorded a time of 14.56 seconds. Taryn Simmons placed second in the 400-meter hurdles prelims to advance to the finals. The need to concentrate on attaining his degree in accounting and finance has kept the 2008 track season from being all that UL-Lafayette senior Daniel “D.J.” Hebert had hoped it would be, but last year’s finish showed the former Catholic High distance runner that he can still wrap up his career with a strong finish at the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships in Denton, Texas, this weekend. Hebert didn’t run as well as he wanted to last season either, but the Cajuns’ steeplechase specialist finished up at the 2007 SBC meet with a personal record. DENTON, Texas-Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns men’s and women’s track and field teams completed the Sun Belt Conference Championships on Sunday with both the men and women finishing eighth. Two more Cajuns qualified for the NCAA Regional. The men’s team scored 49 points throughout the meet, while the women ended with 44 points. For the men, Stacey Fuller qualified for the NCAA Regional in the 400-meter hurdles with his time of 52.47 seconds. Fuller placed first in the event to collect 10 points for UL. Roderick Houston placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles to earn five points for the Cajuns. Houston recorded a time of 10.69 seconds. Houston added another five points to his total with a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash. Houston ran a time of 21.30 seconds to qualify for the NCAA Regional. Chris Roy collected eight points in the pole vault with his second-place finish. Roy posted a mark of 16 feet, 6 3/4 inches. Louis Stevens accrued three points in the 100-meter hurdles. Stevens placed sixth with his time of 15.03 seconds. Casey Comeaux added four points with his fifth-place finish in the javelin throw. Comeaux recorded a mark of 189 feet, 8 inches. The 4x100-meter relay team placed sixth and earned three points, while the 4x400-meter relay team also placed sixth to add three points to the Cajuns’ total. For the women, Taryn Simmons earned eight points in the 400-meter hudles with her second-place finish. Simmons posted a time of 1:00.20 seconds. Jasmine Anderson scored five points after she placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with her time of 14.59 seconds. She was followed by Quantisha Rambo who earned three points with her sixth place finish. Paula Parker placed sixth in the 800-meter run to add three points for the Cajuns. Parker recorded a time of 2:22.60. Parker also picked up a point in the 1,500-meter run with an eighth place finish. The 4X400-meter relay team placed third to earn six points with their time of 3:45.11. The 4x100-meter relay team picked up three points after placing sixth with a time of 47.47 seconds. Amy Doucet earned six points and a third-place finish in the javelin throw with her mark of 131 feet, 4 inches. Kioloni Readeaux scored four points in the triple jump with her fifth-place finish and mark of 40 feet, 4 3/4 inches. Western Kentucky won both the men’s and women’s championships.
