  2. UL Football A Zem2 Gem on McNeese and UL

The zone read play has given us problems in the past, and they certainly have as good a two(Desormeaux/Fenroy)that we have faced. No they are not as talented as South Florida, but I think Bustle has them in something now that will take full advantage of having a playmaker at WR,TE, QB, and RB.

PSU and those other finesse teams are totally opposite in what we will see from ULL. Two TE is the perfect antidote to DE's that are crashers. I am concerned that our DE's will be tackling Fenroy while the QB pulls it out and runs untouched up the field. It will take some very discipline play on Smith and Mason's part. McNeese is obviously faster on defense than OU was, but OU was larger, so it will be interesting to see the plans.

I am like you, I was led to believe they were not good passers, but Desormeaux was mostly on the money to me. I don't know if it wouldnot have been better if they had won, because they definately will be focused this week. So much for the northern teams wilting in the 90 degree temps. I thought OU wore UL down in the fourth quarter. The Cajuns fumbled the ball in a controversial ending to the game on the OU two yard line with first and goal pending. Either the heat or lack of depth seem to play a part in the Cajun defense in the fourth quarter. You got the impression of watching the game that they were spent and would have had a hard time stopping them in OT.

I have no clue to what will happen in this game, but I think it is a mistake to under estimate what they are doing. If you go back the past four years the Pokes have had a hard time stopping the run. Even an improved defense last year had trouble with the run. We expected Toledo and USF, both superior to ULL, to rush for over 200 yards.

A fairer comparison would be Southern Utah, Sam Houston State, and Nicholls State. Sam ran a zone read with a less than stellar QB and DD Terry, and Mr.Terry rushed for 253 yards by himself. SUtah rushed for more than 260 yrds. with one back getting 162 yards, and they are no way close to Fenroy or Desormeaux. Montana shocked us somewhat by using the zone read more than passing the ball and rushed for 230 yards. It will be a unique challenge and in someways let us know if the defense has progressed from last year. If you look at Smith and Masons stats, most of their great games come against passing teams. Looking at some past film, you see the DE's tackling the RB while the QB just runs up the field.

I am not trying to be negative, just scratching my head like Lark and Jason and trying to figure out a successful gameplan. You can bet they are not underestimating the QB/RB talent.

Speaking of Koolaid drinkers. Lots of McNeese guys are having on he*l of a hard time understanding the fact that we put up some big offensive numbers against some stout competition.
LSU type competition? NO, but USC did thump Georgia yesterday, and I feel that the OHIO/VT matchup might be alot closer than some expect.
Also, if that Carla guy(wide receiver for McNeese) is as effeminate in real life as he is wearing that goofy pepper outfit, he's toast.
Spoke to a sweet lady walking her poodle down my street this morning, she was rather endowed, and the RaginCajuns on her tight t-shirt shown prominently. She said, "I heard that 30 busses of people will be coming in from Lake Charles". I responded by calling the Louisiana State Police and asked that contra flow proceedings begin immediately.

Troy in two weeks! They put on a good showing in the second half against Florida. I'll be looking forward to that game!

I have to scratch my head as how we let Ohio slip by use. We will have a good crowd Saturday and we need to crush the Cowboys.

Yeah, Carlese Franklin (No. 12) is a wimp, Can't catch any ball across the middle.

And none of our other WR's are worth a crap. No. 7 is small and slow and can't make any moves. And No. 6 is just can't run worth a lick. Don't worry about any of them. They are all just "toast".

    Doc

P.S. Cajun team doesn't have to worry about this game, go ahead and start working on the game plan for Troy.

Well, well, well boys and girls it's that time again!!!! How important is this McNeese St. game now? This is THE BIGGEST GAME in the history of cajun football hands down!!!! Nobody here, or better yet, nobody in their right frame of mind can say other wise unless they have some red colored glasses on. Face it folks, this game WILL make or break the season for the cajuns...........specifically for attendance and support the rest of the year! Certain groups of people don't want to admit it but facts are facts about this games importance and this being the biggest rival the cajuns have!! I sure hope the players aren't overlooking McNeese St. like certain other people are. This will be a very interesting game and one that should not be taken lightly by the fans. Until the cajuns can prove that they can WIN (not just get a "moral victory"!!) on a consistent basis, questions will remain and opposing teams/fans will continue to consider this football team a "rent a win." Enough is enough and there is really no other way to put it....................THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT GAME IN THE HISTORY OF CAJUN FOOTBALL!!!!

McNeese St. is no pushover by any stretch of the imagination. Just remember what Appalachain St. did to Michigan IN the Big House. So let's not go ahead and chalk up a victory just yet because McNeese is not coming here to just roll over because they're playing against the cajuns. In fact, history might say otherwise with this great rivalry between the two schools. Like the old saying goes..............when these two teams play (McNeese St. & the cajuns) you can toss out the records because the rivalry is so darn intense! There is 1 game and 1 game ONLY that should be worried about right now and that's McNeese St. Not Troy St. or Tennessee, or MTSU, or anyone else. This team cannot afford to look past anybody!

Anyone saying otherwise is fooling themselves and drinking the red stuff too much!!!!

Ok boys, all you red pop drinkers can slice and dice my post all you want. Sometimes the truth just hurts too much and when someone gets defensive with a reply that usually means that it's right on. Fire away..................you know it's true!!

This is not the biggest game in our programs history. The season will not be done if we lose. We still have conference play. It is extremely important now to get the crowds to keep coming. BTW Turbine I like the new textured background. I don't like the way you combine threads. It makes it confusing but I love this board. We will beat Mickey D's U.

I think it is big in terms of home attendence for the rest of the season. I also think Bustle needs to win this game in terms of job security.

Very important. We need at least one win before we play Troy, and it would be preferrable to be at .500 before we play an incredibly tough UCF game on the road. 2-3 is a lot easier to overcome going into the meat of our conference schedule than 1-4 (or 0-5).

I agree with your post. But I think CP is the biggest idiot in the history of UL sports!

CP is one of the resident pot stirrers who has a grudge against UL. I pay CP no attention.
