<<< Conque has served under notable National Coach of the Year recipients such as Terry Bowden and Gary Crowton.

From 1993–1999 while at Louisiana Tech, Conque served as Offensive Coordinator, Running Backs Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. During the 1999 season with Conque as Offensive Coordinator, Louisiana Tech went 8-3 and ranked first in the nation in passing offense – averaging 403 yards per game. The Bulldogs were also second in the nation in total offense and averaged 37 points a game. Among their triumphs were back-to-back victories over Alabama (26-20 in 1997 and 29-28 in 1999), Mississippi State and the University of California.

Last season, in their first Division I-AA season, the Bears exceeded expectations with an 8-3 record and finished the season ranked in the Top 25.

The program has improved not only in terms of facilities and atmosphere under Conque, but also in talent. With Conque at the helm, UCA has sent 12 players into the professional ranks – with four players from the 2006 team alone landing on NFL rosters. >>>

--Learned under some great Head Coaches
    --From south Louisiana
    --Talented Public Speaker
    --Master Recruiter
--Built a program from nothing _
Do Walker and Farmer know about this guy? If not, someone should email, call, fax, or in some way present this information to them.

I like him but how about this guy...

    Chris Hatcher from Georgia Southern

    http://www.georgiasoutherneagles.com...&Q_SEASON=2007

He is a proven winner and is a great offensive mind.
He was also in the running for La Tech HC job and the OC at Florida State last year.

I watched Conque's team the other night. They were drilling Texas State and during the halftime interview, you could tell he was not happy with some parts of his team's performance. He would be my # 1 choice also, but that would prolly mean that he would bring Hud Jackson with him(Mcneese). He and I went at for four yrs. in high school, back in the day. But I'll take the good with the bad, if that means a winning team and PROGRAM.

mcneese's guy has only been there one year. He has done a good job but there are plenty of other d1aa head coaches out there with a longer track record of proven success at that level and lower. Chris Hatcher is one of them who seems to be on his way up and who I would put at the top of the list. There are a number of others worth looking at.

I don't have a problem interviewing Viator. But there are coaches in his division that have a record of winning, along with conference championships.
I would hope interviewing those coaches would be our priority.

I just read in an article from when Hatcher was hired at Georgia Southern that he makes 200,000 a year. So i am assuming that by going after a high profile 1aa coach you would need to be paying at that amount or more...hopefully we could offer more than that. What does Bustle make with endorsements?

Coach Jackson is a good guy. Played for him in High School, wasnt his dad a coach. I think Sonny or something like that. Emailed him a few months ago just to see how things were going and he emailed back, saying that everything was fine and so on and so forth.

I'm not sure what Hatcher's slary is but we would obviously have to offer more. And his assistants would probably demand amore than we are paying the current staff. That is where boosters and an athletic foundation come in to supplement the university allotted salary. I'm not sure of all of the specifics of Bustle's salary and supplemental pay from outside sources. Guru might be able to answer those specifics.

There was a Sonny Jackson that coached at Nichols State and mcneese back in the early to mid 80's.

Guru, I whole-heartedly agree with you. You need to go after those guys for sure. Matt Viator is not a UL kind-of-guy. And, if he just so happens to lead the Cowboys to the FCS Championship this year, put him as far down your priority list as you can.

Clint Conque at UCA is more the type guy you want anyway, okay?
