BOSTON — Astros lefthander Erik Bedard is still on a pitch count nearly a month into the 2013 season. Bedard, 34, has yet to throw more than 75 pitches or go past four innings in a start this year. He allowed six hits and two runs while striking out eight on 75 pitches last Saturday in a no-decision against Cleveland. Friday against the Red Sox, Bedard’s expected to reach at least 80 pitches. Astros manager Bo Porter said the lefty could go as high as 90-95 pitches if necessary. Bedard will face Boston righty Ryan Dempster (0-2, 3.38) in a 6:10 p.m. CT matchup at Fenway Park.
