Hey billabong did they give you a our of the athletic complex?

I'm asking as it relates to the thread in this Link

I responded to the other topic.

And to answer your question, no, they did not. We went no where near it, cajun field, or any sports aspect of UL. I think they pointed out where the weight room was, but that was about the extent of that.

I am going to go out on a limb and guess it was the weight room where the UL power lifting team works out. On the edge of the Swamp. As far as I know, no scholarship athete works out there.

Check out this thread a few posts down from the top (Link) there is a view of the swamp from the insde out. I know you would have seen it from the outside in, but is this what they pointed out?

I wonder how many in the SOS think this is the UL weight room?

Welcome to UL, I lived in CC for 3 sesmesters, good times. There is that smell, but you can't beat the convenience of living there. I met some cool people, but at the time the band, athletes and honors kids were all living there together. I lived a couple rooms down from John Van Kleeve, and down the hall from Charles Tillman, Mike Southhall, etc. If you are looking to meet people joining a fraternity is a great way, (might I suggest Theta Xi) but no matter what get involved. And do your self a favor, go to the student aquatic center, you will know why when you get there.

Yeah, that is the one they pointed out to us. Is that like, the public gym for the students, and the UL athletes work out in another gym, or what?

Also, yeah I plan on joining some kind of group or something, but I'm really not sure what to join. I'm into computers, comics, movies, video games, web design, and stuff like that. I also enjoy football and paint ball. Any clubs you could recommend?

Well I can put a hold on me going to UL... I do not have ONE core credit (artistic credit) that Louisiana Core curriculum requires, so now I am having to be admitted by committee, hopefully...

Are you from out of state by any chance? The one thing I was kind of upset about with UL was the scholarship program for out of state students. I did manage to get the Out of State Fee Waiver, which is a pretty nice scholarship as it allows me to pay in state costs, but that is the only one I received. Not because of my grades or anything like that, but because that is the only scholarship offered to out of state students.

I really wish they would offer other scholarships to out of state students. Louisiana already has the TOPS program which basically pays full tuition (I believe), and UL also has some pretty decent guaranteed scholarships. And by guaranteed, I mean if you meet a certain criteria, you get X amount of money. I wish that would apply to out of state students as well. I'm assuming a lot of the honors students who go to UL are probably getting paid to go to school. While that is awesome and they definitely deserve it based on what they did in High school, I think it would have been nice if I was offered the same treatment.

I don't really know how all of that stuff works though, some of you might know more about why they don't offer that kind of stuff to out of state students, I just don't understand it.

Yes, I am from out of state. I was however born in Lafayette and moved in late 1999. I also was going to have out of state waived, and still will if I can get admitted, but like I said, its that one credit that may cost me not even being able to get admitted.

Yeah, I was born in Lafayette as well. I lived there until August 2002 when I moved to Texas.

apply for scholarships within the department of your major. There should always be something there, every college has its own scholarships.
