_ Did I miss something in the paper, on the NEWS, on KPEL, or from someone in administration say that the Indoor Facility will not be ready prior to Football season?

There has been no official word from the university regarding the finish date for the facility. Last I heard, July 1 was the official estimate for completion. The post that it won't be ready by football season comes from an individual offering his opinion. That individual has apparently been viewing what he believes is slow progress and formed the opinion accordingly.

CM you are right, but the unofficial date was way back in the late winter, then I heard beginning of June from Bustle. Normally I would not be concerned, but this contractor has had a history of non performance when it comes to completion, and even getting it done right. I know UL has little if any influence on who got the job, but they need to light a fire under this contractor, and really need to enforce all penalties to the max. Weather is no excuse because when the foundation was being set we were in a drought, and had he made hay while the sun shined so to speak we would not be where we are. Instead he took his sweet a(ss) time early in the construction.

I agree, I have a some personal experience with this contractor and you would think that it rains everyday. Or atleast they claim this. If you are unable to work during a day because of the weather you get an extra contract day extending the timeline. The university needs to put their foot down because if you don't they will ask for a rain day the minute a drop of water hits the ground, sometimes if they spill the watercooler! I have seen a project they have done take over a year past the original contract date. It looks like this is where it is headed. Someone needs to jump on their _____es and get this thing moving!

_ Thats BS!!! When the bid was won they had to agree on an finish date. If that date comes and goes and there was no act of GOD to extend the finish, the company would have to pay a fine for everyday late. And if that wasn't in the contract then some one in the state office of buildings and grounds should be held accountable. _

I'm not here to defend the contractors. I totally believe that they are taking longer than they should have. I mean the floor hasn't even been laid yet so that the turf can be put down. But you have to admit that these torrential rains and severe thunderstorms that we have been having almost every day has greatly hampered the progress of construction. The women's football clinic is slated for July and it is supposed to be hosted inside the FINISHED practice facility. My girlfriend was so psyched to go to the clinic and be able to see the finished building. It had better be done.

Kal, you missing the point. When the critical time for laying the footing was available he was being a grasshopper last year instead of an ant. We were in a prolonged drought with little or no rain. He started preparing and pouring the footing after the rains started. Still this spring has not, has not been unusual in rainfall and he is still several months behind the projected finish date. He can get rain from now til it is done, but the fact remains his early procrastination is the primary reason for his current lack of performance.

I just figured out why the project is taking so long. Look at where the president of the company went to college.
