The Northside High School gym was filled with hopeful future basketball players last week, learning the basics of dribbling, defense and the perfect form for shooting.

The first Devan Clark Basketball camp brought children from across Acadiana who wanted to learn basketball skills from Northside's first-year coach.

"I've been learning defense, how to dribble," eight-year-old Cameron Sampay of Rayne said during a break at camp.

Clark said the camp was a way to give back to the community and build relationships as a first-year coach.
