Alvin Dark was the Starting Shortstop in all those All-Star games.

He also finished 3rd and 5th in MVP voting and was awarded the very first Lou Gehrig Memorial Award, given to the player who best exemplified Gehrig's character and integrity both on and off the field.

After WWII he claimed Louisiana as 'his' school. It was years later that the LSU machine pulled him back in.

Coach Robichaux was the only UL administration person to officially recognize Alvin Dark's contributions to UL lore.
