My understanding is the club has the option of paying the negotiated salary in 2017 or buying him out and letting him go. Since his 2017 salary of $5.4 million is way under market value at this point, they will likely keep him.
As the article noted above http://disciplesofuecker.com/revisit...ys-value/21932, the club might try to extend him, but it will be expensive, maybe too much for Milwaukee, especially since the last guy they extended, Braun, blew up in their face. The Brewers have him at a huge discount for about five years. Jon may end up with a big market team in 2018 for big $$$.
Don't know if this has been posted already, but Lucroy is not only turning heads, MLB is starting to study his mechanics.
