Lucroy is the 19th highest paid catcher in the league...

Dream Scenario: After this season, Luc deserves a new structured contract plain and simple. Brewers probably won't pay. Jason Castro's contract for the Astros ends after the season. Hopefully the Astros make a move after the season to go after him. He'd be fantastic framing pitches for that young stable of arms.

That would be quite amazing as I'm a fellow Astros fan...and would love to be able to cheer for Luc as astro and not a brewer. But I just hope he does well and is rewarded for it by whomever!

I don't wish that on my worst enemy. I don't see Lucroy being the kind of guy to chase every dollar just to be a loser. He would get a really good deal from a good organization and make a contender better on day 1. No need to play for the jaguars...I mean Astros.

The Astros are actually not that far from being very good in the near future. They have built for a couple of years from now, not now. They are young and deep. The question is can they keep the young talent. If so, I would think that a guy like Luc would do very well in Houston.

Lol mock all you want, but the stros will be in the playoffs next year and will be contenders within the next 3 years. The problem with your theory is that all the good organization's already have good catchers with good deals. The Astros need a "face" for their organization. He's the perfect person for it.

History tells you they won't, not signing your top draft picks tells you they won't. The Astros will always be a couple years away. You know why they can't hold on to talent? Because the talent knows they are a joke and want to move on to a winner. Aside from that run they made which seems like 20 years ago, how bad have the Astros been? They literally cannot give away tickets.

So injuries don't happen? Catchers can decline quickly, how do you even know the brewers will let him go? He is becoming, if not already, their face of the franchise.

----How about if we get a CPA to work with the Brewers and let them anti up say $5-$10 million for the Baseball stadium @ UL----Just think that there might be a tax angle that could benefit all----I have no idea and hated accounting!!! Any tax dudes on here see a way that we could do this which could help the Brewers by raising LUC's salary in this fashion??? Again I have no clue!!!

His current contract runs through 2016 with a team option for 2017. I don't think the Brewers will be trading him as he's become the face of the franchise. Additionally, he's only costing them $2M this year, $3M next year, $4M in 2016, and $5.25M if the team picks up the 2017 option (which they will). I'd be surprised if the team wasn't already looking at his next contract.

I found this article from earlier this year that was an interesting read.

He obviously deserves an extension and raise. The Brewers have history of doing just that. They extended and raised Luc well before arbitration. They extended and raised Braun four years before his contract end date. I think Luc has three years left after this year.
