Actually they are going for 12 straight. They won the last home game before going on a perfect 10 game road trip. One of few teams in baseball history to accomplish that feat.

Anyone see how the Astros beat the A's in 11 innings on Tuesday night. Couple of tough luck plays for Lucroy which led to tying and winning runs.

More bad luck than poor play. After missing the tag on Bregman, his throw bounced off of Bregman's helmet. On the play at home in which the tying run scored, it was a poor low throw and Reddick's speed may have beaten the throw even if Lucroy holds on to the ball. Astros are concerned that they let a 4 to 0 lead in the ninth slip away. They need to be more consistent in the bullpen if they hope to repeat.

That WAS rough for Lucroy, but the A's are still the hottest team in baseball. I think they've won something like 17 out of their last 22 games.

Astros have won 7 of 8 which is a better percentage than 17 of 22. I was scared to write that as doing so may bring them negative karma. Maybe they are good enough to overcome the possible jinx I just placed on them. Still, I agree the A's are a dangerous team. Although unlikely, it is still in the realm of possibility for them to catch the Yankees or Mariners for a wildcard spot. Their end of the bullpen is excellent and you generally have to get them early to beat them.

As a huge Astros fan for 40+ years. I. Beg to differ with you on repeating without consistency from the pen. The playoffs are different from the regular season. Just see last year the weakest pitcher the Astros have is Giles. He, just like last year will not pitch much if any. You shorten the games in the playoffs. Our starters are only going 6 innings right now. We have the best staff in the game so verlander, Morton, Cole and even keuchel can go 7, then you bring in McCullers as an extra bullpen arm since he has already proven he can do it. The issue they are having is hinch is trying to rest arms at the break and only having started go 5 or 6. Verlander could have gone 7 or 8 last night and in a normal world would have so the Giles mess wouldn’t have been an issue, mchugh Rondon or peacock could have pitched one or two innings. Game over

Giles wasn't the same shut-down guy that he was in the regular season last year once the playoffs started where he gave up 10 earned runs in 7 2/3 innings.. and it carried over into this year.

A 4.99 ERA from your 'closer' isn't going to cut it.. the guy has issues, and punching yourself in the face or cussing out your manager isn't going to fix them.. Being sent down may be exactly what he needs so he can figure out what's going on.. is he tipping pitches? maybe... the way he has been pumping the strike zone is good for your K/BB ratio, but it also allows hitters to square you up more often. Hopefully he can learn a change up in the minors
