Catcher framing quality to date has been measured only in the set of pitches that are not swung upon, whose value is determined by the umpire's call. But there is another player present in the matchup in the person of the batter, and catcher framing also might impact the batter's actions.
The batter suffers when there's a good framer behind the plate, and prospers when there's a poor one. A good framer expands the zone, making marginal pitches more likely to become strikes. Yet the batter is not a wholly passive observer in this process. If the batter behaves optimally, he must adjust his strategy to compensate for the framer's quality, changing the pitches that ought to be swung upon.
As with most advertising campaigns, artistic license was used in the television promo in which Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy is shown getting ready for the 2015 baseball season by taking his whacks in the indoor batting cage at Miller Park.

When you were 4th in all-star voting for the entire league, you better be the face of your franchise.
Proud of Luc and looking forward to an even better 2015.
And a clean face unlike Braun who threw a guy under the bus to save his ___
What a class act he is! So proud to have guys like Luc,, Peanut, Jake, Brian etc. come out of this university! Wow!
I emailed this article to a guy I know in Milwaukee who runs a camp called camp hometown heroes. It's a camp for kids that have lost parents while defending our nation overseas. He flies kids from all over the US to his week long camp for outdoor fun, but also for them to connect and talk about their lost. And all free to the campers. He said I was too late with the info that Lucroy has already spent a week at his camp helping these kids and has donated numerous signed baseballs, jerseys, bats, etc... for his silent auction. He said he has gotten to know Lucroy on a personal level and that he is a really great guy!!!
Watching MLBTV this weekend, they were ranking the Top 100 MLB players right now. Lucroy came in at #23, his first time on the list and ahead of some big name players. Can't wait for the season to start!!
GEAUX CAJUNS!!
Nice.
Now that's respect.
Very, very good, indeed. According to MLB Network, Lucroy is the 23rd best player in baseball. ESPN ranked him the 21st best player last year.......Not bad.
