Marisnick was pretty remorseful about it. His explanation makes sense and I dont think he did it on purpose. But its still a suspension

His head is actually what hits Lucroys head causing the injury. These plays happen at full speed with guys the same size as NFL players but without the pads. Could it have been avoided, probably, but unfortunately it wasn't. Nothing was intentional.

This is the best angle Luc never goes outside

Lucroy hurt or not, somebody on the Astros will get a heater in the ear from the Angels before the end of the season. Don't care if Jake is remorseful or not, he never lifted his head.

In the NFL, that's targeting and suspended.

Jon, as mentioned earlier, was scheduled to be at the wake last night. He was supposed to deliver the eulogy, representing all the current and former players. Justin, Tony's son in law Lon Moody and twin brother Timmy spoke but Luc was supposed to bat cleanup last night. Instead there were three speakers.

Pretty clear the most likely reason was to dislodge a potential tag out. It’s not a criminal act, just a civil call and I’d go with intentional if I was on a tort jury.

    Yadier Molina seems to agree.

Baserunners last step was directly towards Luc rather than away from him to avoid any kind of contact or tag. It was also clearly in the field of play

Fwiw, the last move he made before going inside looked like a juke but actually seemed like he was prepared to go outside but the movement of luc changed his mind so he tried to go inside hard and that ended horribly. That said, I think its 100% accident and I say that not just based on the video, but marisnick has never been a dirty player ever. It's not because I'm an astros fan because I've done my share of ____ting on my own players when they screw up like fiers throwing at a player and carlos gomez for being a piece of poo. All of that said, it's still worthy of suspension. Sometimes hard plays can be penalized hard and this is one even if it isnt intentional.

I'm not saying he was trying to hurt him, but it seems pretty clear he was trying to knock the ball free. And was well within the line. He may or may not be a good guy, but that was an illegal play and it's illegal for a reason.

May have been accidental. He broke a rule that put a player in the hospital, so he needs to sit awhile.
