The answer is in the reason the rule was changed. Have you ever heard of Ray Fosse? He was hit in a similar manner by Pete Rose in 1970. These types of injuries continued for years until MLB changed the rule on collisions at the plate. His slide was inside the baseline, which was a violation of the rule. He was called out and suspended for two games. End of story.

I’d imagine the story here would be different if it was a rangers outfielder that did that to Lucroy. The same reason people are ____ed bc it’s lucroy is the same reason some are defending Marisnick

I'm defending Marisnick because he has no history of being a dirty player. Just like I would have defended Lucroy had he did a swipe tag with his mitt across Marisnick's face on a slide at home plate. Neither have a history of playing the game dirty, which is why their teammates are vigorously defending them.

I’d feel the same way. Legal or not, the play should warrant a suspension regardless of intent.

The retaliation was way worse than the collision. You don’t throw at people’s head, period.

Didn’t anything about the play whether it was dirty or not. If it was the brewers and the Rockies nobody would give 2 shts. The only reason it’s being talked about here so much is it was Lucroy and the Astros. If any other team did it to Lucroy besides the Astros there would be different comments here. People have biases and there is nothing wrong with that, that’s what fans are...bias.

I don't know how old you are, but hitting someone with a fastball in the ear hole are in the helmet period with a 95 mph fastball could actually do as much damage as the hit on Luce's head or worse. Have you ever heard of ____ie Thon, Tony Conigliaro and Mike Jorgensen just to name a few?

Baseball has a way of policing itself on the field with their unwritten rules. But you don't retaliate by throwing at someone's head for an action that you are uncertain was intentional attempt to injure.
Just like you “don’t think” Jake intended to injure Lucroy I don’t “think the pitcher was throwing for his head. I think he was trying to hit him between the shoulder blades and the pitch was a few inches high.

Pitchers don’t practice throwing at batters. Players practice sliding all of the time. It is much more likely that the pitch was a bit higher than the player making a poor decision on something he practices.

I don’t think Ramirez is a dirty player and that’s the issue with not knowing intent. He meant to hit him but maybe not meant to throw at his head. Just like I think Marisnick intended to make contact but had no intent to injure Lucroy. ___ happens.

Okay, I have no clue what the pitchers intention was other than to retaliate for the slide on LuCroy. As I said, both have been suspended for their actions and the season moves on.

Only God and Rameriz know where he intended to throw the pitch. You are neither.
