COLLEGE STATION, Texas-Texas A&M got a couple of runs early and a pair of runs late and that was enough as the Aggies defeated Louisiana’s Ragin Cajuns 4-1 at Olsen Field to force a final and deciding game for the regional championship tomorrow in College Station, Texas.
Freshman Scott Migl (7-3) scattered nine hits over 7.0 innings of work to get the victory for the Aggies. Eight of the nine hits were singles as Migl kept the Cajuns at bay all evening and made big pitches whenever the Cajuns threatened.
A&M (47-17) got all the runs they would need in the first inning when Kyle Colligan homered to left center off Cajuns’ starter Brent Solich (5-2) with one out. Brandon Hicks followed with a single and after Blake Stouffer flied to left, Craig Stinson reached on an error by Cajuns third baseman Matt Hicks to put runners at first and second. Luke Anders then followed with a swinging bunt single to score Hicks and give the Aggies a 2-0 lead.
