Are you serious? He was let go at NC State before he died? Man, my memory is really gone.

34 is pretty impressive very impressive

one thing for sure, i would think as #28 (mack brown) can speak about thru his coaching experience one can be at the top and then, "if" one doesn't continue his sucess, one can fall

if hudspeth wishes to continue his coaching career somewhere else, one would guess, he will have to make all cajun fans happy, by his continued sucess on the field here

They won the SEC in 1941.

Next championship was a division championship they won in 1998. That particular club went 18-6 the 2 years after that, then fired the coach after 3 losing seasons.

Finally, the current stretch under Mullen is the most sustained success they have had for decades, and mark my words, they will force him out one day for no good reason.

Such is life in Starkville, MS.
The same things happened to Tuberville at Auburn and Cutcliffe at Ole Miss. I'm shocked Georgia hasn't fired Richt for no good reason.

I think the Michigan coach is WAY overrated!

Agreed, Some people say coaches are overrated if they believe the team wins only because of the talent of the players, but it take a special kind of individual to snatch defeat out of the hands of victory while everyone watches in shock and aweand then get a huge pay raise at the end of the season.

I noticed some people disagreeing with Miles being ranked so high, but has anyone noticed that Petrino for WKU is ranked #8? Heck, he's ranked above Miles. Yes, Petrino did have success in the past, but that was with places that had sizable budget and a national name. He and Hud have the same winning percentage if I figured correctly. Hud has done more with less. Petrino is now in a place that doesn't have those advantages and he hasn't even coached a season yet with those disadvantages and they rank him that high? And to top it off, Petrino has a nack for self destruction. Please.

You are guaranteed to go 8-4 at best and get fired for it in a few years.

You will be making only 30-50% more than your current million dollar contract at an entity that you are guaranteed employment for life.

Would you roll the dice on a certain dead end job?

    or,

Would you stay put, get rich, become a legend, and get a stadium named after you with your statue out front?
    This is my hope.

I still find it funny that FIU fired Christobal after having a down year last year. Who do they really think would have done better?

I think we're sitting pretty good over the next year or two. Most schools that Hud would have an interest (considering his original criteria) are situated with a pretty good coach right now.

I wouldn't knock Starkeville for Hud. Hud likes that area and he doesn't see any middle to low SEC football program as a challenge for him. He sees himself as the difference maker. The key for us is that we keep building our program while we have Hud and that we pray no "Hud ideal" coaching jobs become available.

I am impressed this poll ranked Hud that high. I wish we could keep him a secret as we keep growing our program. but UL gets some good pub every time Hud does.

And if we continue (ok maybe begin) to be proactive with financial rewards for the coaching staff(s) AND begin in earnest the implementation of our athletic master plan, this will start shaping up as a nice destination job; at least competitive with our peer competition.

As one poster said, why can't we be another Florida State?

Not this year but next (our coming up junior class) has very many in it and we really need some help when they leave---This would be B-Way, Harris, Ham, Ringo,Molbert, Patt, Robinson, Butler, etc----but we are filling in quite well--think only 13 -18 S-ships this coming year!!!
