Worst picture to use ever
If it looks like UL ace pitcher Jordan Wallace is having more fun in the circle these days for the Ragin' Cajuns, it's not your eyes playing tricks on you.
She definitely is.
As rough as the season's felt like at times, after this weekend, Jordan should be in the top 5 in the nation in Strikeouts/7 IP once they update the weekend stats. Her K/7 number jumped almost a whole half a strikeout just over the week 10.3 to about 10.8.
I think we are talking about 7 innings. I think it might be Cat Osterman with the most strikeouts in extra innings. Can't remember how many, but it's up there........And BeauCajun is correct. You can have more than 21 K's in a 7 inning game on a DTS, (drop third strike) runner safe.
NCAA Strikeout records:
GAME 28—Cristin Vitek, Baylor vs. North Carolina, May 20, 2004 (16 inn.); Eileen Canney, Northwestern vs. Minnesota, April 23, 2006 (18 inn.)
SEASON 724—Monica Abbott, Tennessee, 2007 (358.3 inn.)
CAREER 2,440—Monica Abbott, Tennessee, 2004-07 (1,448.0 inn.)
STRIKEOUT/7 IP
SEASON 15.42—Cat Osterman, Texas, 2006 (630 in 286.0 inn.)
CAREER 14.34—Cat Osterman, Texas, 2002-03, 05-06 (2,265 in 1,105.7 innings)
Also, only 17 times in NCAA history has a pitcher struck out more than 18 batters in a 7 inning game. And 21 K in 7 has only happened the one time.
