The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns softball program has a new strikeout record for seven-inning games. Sophomore Jordan Wallace struck out 18 batters, in seven shutout innings, leading the Cajuns to a 6-0 victory, and a series sweep of Middle Tennessee on Sunday, April 14, at Lamson Park. The Cajuns have now won their last 12 games, and improved to 30-11 overall and 11-4 in conference play.

She didn't need much defense behind her today. All on her. What an outstanding performance.

Some people might be changing their all-time Cajun Softball team members before the season is over---Again not the one to say but could she rank up there with our former greats that have played in the circle???

Wow. 18 out of 21 outs via strikeout. Anyone know what the national record is?

Not until she closes out some quality opponents. She is very good, but not elite.....yet.

Yet she now ranks as the best ever.

Future stat hogs will only see what she did, not who she did it against. Which is the way it aught to be, since every UL pitcher before her had the same opportunity against the same level of competition.

So in that regard she truly and rightfully is, the best ever.

    Time to pad her stats.

Up untill 2011, Michele Grange struck out 21 on March 22 1991. California vs Greighton. She pitched for California.

The 18 K's was the 31st time that somebody struck out 18 or more in a seven inning game.

    The record was 21.

I was there when Phil Devey got 16K's. I took one of the K's that I would put up and had all the dirty dozen and 1/2 sign it and gave it to his mother to give to him. Two or three years later she was at a game and sat with us and said that he still had it.....Question, anyone know what the record is for the Lady Cajuns? What's more impressive, 18 out of 21, softball, or 16 out of 27, baseball.

Technically it can be broken. A runner may reach base on a K and passed ball, where you could possibly have more than 3 Ks in an inning.
