When Brent Solich pitched for Lakewood Ranch High in its 2003 state championship season, he was known for being at his best in the clutch, though he was considered the Mustangs' No. 2 hurler.

Solich showed he hasn't lost his moxie last weekend when he pitched his best game of the season in leading Louisiana-Lafayette to a 5-0 Sun Belt Conference Tournament semifinal victory over South Alabama.

The left-hander threw the first complete game shutout for the Ragin' Cajuns this season in picking up his fifth victory in six decisions. He never allowed a runner past second base, struck out 11 and gave up three hits. During one stretch, from the first through sixth inning, he retired 19 consecutive batters.
