Former UL relief pitcher Gordon O'Brien called the College World Series "what you see when you dream."

O'Brien and his Ragin' Cajun teammates got to live that dream at the end of the 2000 season, when UL capped its most successful baseball season in history by tying for third nationally at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Neb.

The members of this year's Cajun squad were in junior high when that team advanced through NCAA Regional and Super Regional play for the first time.

"I really followed them that whole year," said Cajun left fielder Jefferies Tatford, who was going into his freshman year at St. Thomas More. "I remember we were out of school when they had the regional here, and I was sitting right behind home plate. It was unbelievable to watch the regional here."
