Whew! Our RPI thanks you
Whew! Our RPI thanks you
From that advertiser article:
"LAGNIAPPE: Robichaux said a game originally set for March 5 vs. New Orleans won't be made up this season, but UL might add another game to its 2013 schedule against an undisclosed opponent."
Wonder who the undisclosed opponent may be. Any ideas?
LaTech
I think La Tech's RPI is lower than UNO's.
UNO 266
LA TECH 273
Dear God, I hope its not LTU.
RPI is a funny thing. Sometime it can be better to play a lower rated RPI team if I'm not mistaken. I think the RPI numbers com with 25% being your winning percentage, 50% being opponents winning percentage, and 25% being the opponents opponents winning percentage, funny things can happen. I know there are bonus stuff for winning/losing to the top & bottom rated teams as well. I remember a great explanation on this in an older thread from Brian (Gonegolfin) a year or two ago about this. Maybe Turbine can run it down, but it convoluted at best.
You are basically right on the formula, CajunAmos. There's no bonus system anymore. The change this year is the weighting of home/away wins and losses. The formula (.25*WP + .50*OWP + .25*OOWP) is still correct. I believe Brian said he thought the OWP and OOWP will not include the weighing, only your WP would have it. I'm not 100% sure on that though.
So playing Tech (12-21) is better than UNO (5-26) but its not much better as far as the OWP is concerned
yes but my point was, if you guys are _____ing about playing UNO, I don't think playing LTU is going to help our RPI any more than playing UNO.
UNO has played some good teams, they have played some bad teams, but UNO's OWP is 54.5%, LTU OWP is 46%.
LTU has a better winning percentage 36% vs UNO at 16%
UNO has a better OWP at 54.5% vs LTU at 46%
I don't think either of these teams are who we want to play, that is my point. LTU is not better for our RPI than UNO. They both stink.
Understood and nothing is wrong with what you say, just that anytime someone compares teams as far as who we are playing and only lists the RPI rank, you'll almost always get a response clarifying the fact that RPI rank doesnt matter as far as who is better to play. Just like playing Troy helped us out this week, even though you look at their rank and they were in the 90s.
I was just throwing a possible replacement name out there...which is a possibility. I would hope that we could get a 3rd matchup with Southeastern....
