So we were not familiar with them? We did not have almost every advantage? They just played better than us. In fact the last two times we played UNEAUX they kicked the crap out of us. We are two and two this year against UNEAUX and won the first two tight games, but got blasted in our last two games with them. Point is? I don't see being familiar as being a big factor. Don't we have scouting, don't we have coaches, were our players unable to become familiar with them? Just own up, and admit they outplayed us it is as simple as that.

No, you are missing my point. I was responding to the notion that because we lost to a weaker opponent we would struggle v. OSU.

I countered that there's a big difference between playing a very familiar opponent (if not rival) versus an unknown to us.

Hopefully very well, as i understand it, they are one of the best traveling universities in the country. although traveling well for baseball is far from traveling well for football, especially up there where baseball probably isn't very high on many folk's list of priorities.

J.B. Shuck is our number 3 guy, he is alright but a better outfielder than a pitcher. _
Eh, who cares about pitchers and batters... what color do your fans sport to baseball games? You should tell them to wear bright vermillion (red) so as not to be confused with an Aggie fan (maroon). Aggies usually wear their shirts inside out... not on purpose.

You guys have a good time, but save your best for the losers bracket.

in 2003 we played down in auburn and we had a really strong turn out, all the auburn fans were amazed by how many fans a nothern school brought down, probably because it was a days drive 8-10 hours. college station is more like a 2 day drive so probably just parents a few die hards and old alumni in the area.

baseball is pretty high on our priority list just nothing can match our intensity and insanity for football. in 1999 and 2003 we hosted super regionals and there were probably more people in the parking lot than could get into the game. in ohio the weather is just finally getting nice, when our home season starts the weather is usually in the fifties with lots of rain.

That's really cool. From the perception down here, college baseball is definitely a southern states, and west coast sport, so i would surely say ya'll are an anomoly. What kind of facilities do ya'll have? What's the capacity?

    Another Buckeye here....

We have a very nice ballpark - Bill Davis Stadium - holds 4,500 however you can squeeze just over 5,000 in there

    here is a link

College baseball in the north is tough at times. We are so dependent on the weather early in the year, especially when it comes to attendance. I have sat through my share of 40 degree games. It is Ok for die-hards but not exactly great weather for the family outing.

There are some pretty good programs in the north. OSU has been very good historically (won the CWS in 1966, runner up in 1965). Michigan has had a resurgence of late and Minnesota is always a solid program. Notre Dame made the CWS a few years ago.

Anyway - best of luck tomorrow!!

I noticed that you guys built that yard for about $4.7MM 10 years ago. Again, it makes wonder what the hell lsu is building that is gonna cost them $35MM. I can't imagine that seating for ~3k more and increased building costs run the bill up to $30MM. not unless they are either putting granite counters and travertine floors in all the concessions and bathrooms, 60" plasmas around the concourse for the closed circuit TV, and actually use paint made of gold, instead of that regular yellow paint that they call gold, should it cost that much. Well, that is not unless somebody's pockets are gettin lined.

Dude! They got bills to pay! Mike the Tiger taxidermy, headstone, royal burial... gotta run em $3MM... eh, inflation, pocket lining, keeping counterfeiters outta jail, keeping coaches from touching players, keeping players quiet, a little more pocket lining, legislative costs, grease a palm here/grease a palm there, state bids, pocket lining, pre-planned change orders... but no free t-shirts!
