Thread: Want to see a preview of Ohio State?

Check out CSTV on DirecTV channel 610 right now. Ohio State is replaying the Big Ten title game against Minnesota. Big 10 pitcher of the year (and Game #1 Cajun opponent), lefty Cory Luebke, is on the mound for the Buckeyes.

I was hoping you were monitoring the board.

Are you going to be in College Station?

They are a one pitcher team. The also don't have a great power hitting team, they do hit .316 as a team. Meaning they are a good hitting team, they just don't have any hitters with double digit HR hitters.

We are 15-2 vs Left handed pitchers.

Let's put it in proper prespective. We are 15-2 against left handers that are not as talented as Ohio State's number one. We lost to a much less talented pitcher Saturday in Mobile. The Cajuns had better be prepaired to swing the bats better then they have over the past week.

I will probably stay at the Courtyard Marriott on Hwy. 6, instead of driving in from Lakeway (on Lake Travis 30 min. west of Austin) each day.

    Let's hookup in College Station.

BTW, where are your seats? I managed to get Section 120 (Reserved at end of infield, 3rd base side), Row 3.

Unfortunately, the Cajuns will be facing that pitcher and he is a good one. I talked about his stuff in another thread. Luebke was also drafted in the 22nd round last season after his sophomore season.

The Buckeyes also have a decent closer (Jake Hale), a BIG right-hander who has served double duty as a starter. He had some good hard stuff when I saw him throw and had decent command. He looked like low 90's to me with a slider. Hale was drafted out of high school. I will say that neither Luebke nor Hale have the command that Moody or Glass have.

My hope is that he (Luebke) may not be as fresh as usual. He threw seven innings in the tournament opener (Wednesday 5/23). He then pitched 7 2/3 in the tournament final yesterday (Sunday 5/28). A start on Friday 6/1 afternoon at 1 pm results in three starts in a short span.

Yes, but the point is that this will not be an easy game. Not as easy as their overall performance on paper looks. With Luebke on the mound they are probably a Top 35 RPI team.

And that is the big advantage of being a #1 seed vs. being a #2 seed. A&M can hold Nicholson for game #2, meanwhile the Cajuns will need to play well to beat the Buckeyes and Luebke. Not a lot of room for error in the first game.

    Geaux Cajuns!

Great seats! We'll be at the LaQuinta College Station arriving Friday night. We are in Section 209 behind the plate, Row 4 on the end. See you there!

Even better seats ... I assume these were the player parents' tickets being offered for sale?
