Well it was neither strentz, nor Austin's ball to even attempt. It should of been Compton all the way based on where it was. He did miss it tho. However I did NOT realize that Austin took that ball off the chest? Of course my seats are 290 ft away from home plate so....it looked as though he got a glove on it??

It was probably Compton's ball...but with he and Stentz (chuckle) and Robe all within a foot of each other, they didn't help him make the play. If it was his as you say, they should have backed away, which would have allowed him space to make the catch.

Anyway...they won...and beat a good arm...and they did it by out hitting (again) the best hitting team in the league.

Robe in know way should have been around that ball. Compton's call all the way. Strentz should have backed out...Called hit and should have been an errow. Question is who to call it on. That's why they called it a hit IMO..

On this play, why would you give McDorman a FC instead of a hit. I guess because Howard was forced out at third. If he was not forced and was thrown out at third would it have been a hit then? At first they gave McDorman a hit. Then about two innings later they changed it to FC....So I am saying that if he is force out than it is a FC, and if he was not forced and would have to make a tag on him at third than it would have been a hit.......Is this right????

Error should have been on Compton. It was his ball all the way. Strentz (catcher) is the last player on the field you want fielding a fly ball and the pitcher is the 2nd to last. That is baseball 101.

Strentz and Robe contributed to Compton's miss...IMO. That was my point. If he is the last person that should be fielding that pop up...since that is baseball 101, why was he in Compton's face?

He could have easily come out of the game early after he took that line drive to the chest. He showed guts and threw very well tonight.

I bet he has a purple tattoo to commemorate his complete game last night.
