Danielle Grondine of Sutton, Mass., is currently serving a9-month deployment to Afghanistan with the United States Army Reserves. She’sbeen in the military for 19 years. During that time, Danielle’s developed alove for pool. She originally started playing pool while in medical trainingfor the Army in 1994. After that, Danielle continued to play with friends andthen joined the New England APA operated by Jon Waidlich as a Team Captain in2002.
“Playing pool is my stress relief while deployed,” Daniellesaid. “Some days are tough being away from family, but being able to dosomething that you enjoy to remind you of times at home and the new friends youmake is what helps me.”
Danielle plays pool as often as she can while on base; usually2-3 times a week if her schedule allows. When she does get to play, it’s for afew hours with different friends. She hopes to continue improving her poolskills so that her teams will qualify for the National Championships in Vegassomeday. Danielle is currently a skill level 3 in 8-Ball.
“What I enjoy about APA is the competition of the higherlevel tournaments to help me become a better player,” Danielle said. “But Imostly enjoy the time out with my friends and teammates.”
