The Astros are ranked 16th in the annual Forbes magazine ranking of MLB team values. The magazine puts the team’s worth at $626 million, a 14 percent increase from last season. Forbes’ calculations put the Astros with an operating income of $24.7 million on revenues of $196 million. Jim Crane bought the Astros in November of 2011 for $610 million from Drayton McLane. (The purchase price was originally listed at $680 million but Crane got a $70 million discount for move to the American League).
