With five games left in the regular season, things couldn't have been looking much better for the Louisiana IceGators.

They were in sole possession of first place in the SPHL standings with seemingly a very realistic magic number of three to clinch the No. 1 playoff seed.

Instead, the IceGators suffered a four-game losing streak to end the regular season and had to settle for a No. 2 playoff seed.
