Thread: Ricky Bustle has landed a new job as OC at NC A&T

I know I will be in the minority, but he did live up to my hopes, somewhat. to think of the situation we were in when he arrived and to get us back to some sort of respectability was huge. I wish he would have done better, but Ricky gave us reason to believe, more than can be said about his predicessor. And like Express said, without the success of Ricky, Coach Hud would not be here today.

Thanks coach, good luck at NC A&T. I would love to see you back coaching FBS football in the near future.

    Rough stretch

    Offensive Coordinator at Va Tech
Hired at UL, takes over a program that did not have enough OL to hold a Red/White scrimmage when he arrives
Takes UL to a conference championship and multiple .500 seasons
Struggles in last season at UL
    Fired from UL
Hired with a lame duck coach at Toolame as QB coach and fired the next season
Hired at USM as OC, health issues steps down as OC and a coach that went 0-12 and fired that season
Hired as OC at NC A&T

Does anyone have his email address? I would like to send him best wishes. He is a nice, good man.

Let's not go overboard here. The most accurate description of Bustle is he was the guy who led UL football from rotten and totally forgettable, to the verge of mediocrity and a little less forgettable. And he accomplished it all in only NINE freaking years?! Sure he was nice, but that did NOT make him a great coach. I thought he underachieved as a coach several seasons and definitely provided UL with some of it's most embarrasing moments in sports history. Getting skull drug by WKU for their first 1-A win in history and getting butt kicked by McNeese in the swamp were both unforgivable coaching blunders that should eternally wipe his name from the pages of the good coaching fraternity history book.

EDIT: Make no mistake about it UL fan. Those two losses did as much to hurt the reputation of the university for years to come as anything in the school's history despite hiring the HUD. Anyone who doesn't recognize this is being willfully & foolishly blind.

He was a good man, decent coach and did bring us back from Baldwin years. We don't need to thrash him. I don't think anyone is calling him a great coach or calling for him to come back. Many people including myself are just wishing him well in his new endeavors.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. In only 2 years he went from Tulane to NC A&T. That's a huge step up in program for him.

he may be a nice man but he was a part of 5 wins in his last 3 years as a football coach, he is lucky to have found employment. i do wish him well but his resume has gone down the toilet.

He did a decent job. His only shot at a great year went down the tubes in 08 when Des tore up his knee. When I think of the Bustle years, I'll remember some exciting offenses, terrible defense and painfully predictable play calling. If I knew it was coming you can bet your butt the defense did.

A&T has one of the most exciting bands you will ever see. They make Southern and Grambling look like HS bands. They were the inspiration behind the movie Drumline. Their football team went from 1 win 3 years ago, to 7 last year under new HC Ron Broadway. They have had some really good defenses, but struggled offensively. I would think that Ricky will attempt to bring some fast paced spread offense to Greensboro.

He must be a good man. So many people on here liked him. He wasn't the best of head coaches. If he was he wouldn't be where he is today. I thank him for his contributions and wish him well. I had a couple of chances be on the sideline during his tenure. I couldn't believe how calm he was while we were being skull dragged against Tory and WKU. It seemed to me he lack intensity. Hud is very intense form what I've seen. Hud basically took Bustle's players and got us to our first bowl game in history.

Ricky Bustle is our Jerry Dinardo.
    HUD is our Nick Saban.
    See a pattern?
